polaris scrambler 250 questions and help?

so one of my friends has a scrambler just layin around in his garage. the engine needs new rings, other then that all the parts are fine. im thinkin bout spittin him a offer cause i heard these things got more torque then a 250 big red. plus itd be great to own 1/1500 of those things. anybody know how much i should offer him? 300$?

if everything else is in good shape $300 is reasonable i think.working on picking one up myself but the guy is set at $600.needs new swing arm bushings or bearings and some brake work but its in in good shape.

yeah if you think about it there worth alot more its just the demand is low. and parts are hard to find, but i know some yamaha parts swap. im just thinking about swapping out the engine with another sled one.
