86 t3 prm grab bar mounting question

I just bought a prm desert bar and had it half mounted kinda, it clears the fenders just fine but the seat/fender bracket doesnt fit over it. I know some guys have them what did you do to fix this problem? I thought about moving the mounts out on the bracket but I really dont want to cut it up.

the prm grab bar is wider than the stock bar. so the stock fender brace doesn't fit without mods. when i make my aluminum fender braces i make them a bit wider at the mounts, so they fit over the grab bar.

you could either widen the fender brace mounts or sand down the grab bar where the brace will mount.

I would say my PRM grab was probably wider too, even though PRM is strong and has good customer service. They should have employed better designers and quality control department, but atleast it's better than nothing. Good luck making the mods for it to fit.

Trying to mount mine broke the welds of one of the mounting bosses off the frame. Awesome!

    One trip and it's loose.

I have one on two of my bikes, and I notched the PRM mounting brackets about half the thickness so that the fender brace would slip down over them, it worked pretty well. I ended up doing it with sblt500r's AL brace too, rather than bending or breaking anything. Pic is the best one that I had on hand, you can zoom in and see the notch.

shaving the mounts on the prm was pretty much my plan I was just worried about weakening too much.

There is still about 1/4 to 3/8 left on each side. I load mine in the truck by it and haven't had any problems yet, but I haven't had the trike over on it either, so I might find out otherwise some day.
