will an 85 250sx carb fit an 87 250es big red?

my buddy said he has one i can have since i stripped the jet on my original carb im just wonderin if the sx carb will fit and run well in my big red he says theyre are pretty much the same

should be a direct swap. may have the common cold start issues with the 85 carb though.

Thanks for the reply I rarely ride my 87 so the starting won't be too bad of a prob as long as it starts.lol

yupp, try the search key under 1985 cold start.
You can either try to find the jet or ream out the old cold start jet
but I forget the exact drill size.
It may also have been fixed with the factory recall.
New carbs are avail for 120$ but the choke lever is ON the carb and they work
great!
