    200x owners-anyone use just 1 qt?

Anyone have input on using just one qt of oil during a change instead of the specified 1.1 qt.

my 185s is on the high end of the dip stick with 3/4 of a quart, and i tip it up sideways, shake it , turn it over so a lot of oil drains out, a 200 should be fine off 1 quart

Why would you purposely run your machine low on oil? They dont hold much to begin with and 0.1 quart does not cost that much when you look at the price of a full quart. Being a tight ass will catch up with you some day.

Agreed..the 1st place to 'go dry' if the oil is low is your rings. You really want to deprive your rings of lubrication on an engine that works as hard as the 200x, no matter how slight?

Before I head out for a hard day of riding I want to see my oil level at the top of the fill line..everytime.

Not sure I understand your reasoning..is this some advice you have been given?

Use the dip stick for your particular trike to determine how much oil to use

oil should also be checked with the dipstick on top of case.... Meaning do not screw it down to check it.

Yes he is correct. unscrew it and set it in the hole. Just like the manual says.

I agree that oil should be checked without screwing the dip stick in but I was just wondering if anyone had issues running just 1 qt in stead of the 1.1 per the manual. I always have run 1.1 but just figured I would ask instead of having to open a second qt just for the .1 but will continue to do so from the recent comments.
    Thanks

As a Honda tech I am asked a similar question several times a week. We usually pour the specified amount in, then check it and fill if necessary. This way it's always on the full mark and u know it's good. But it's usually always got the specific amount the book calls for in order to be full on the stick. And no Honda has ever been checked by screwing the stick in. All bikes, atvs, and even power equipment and engines are checked the same.
