    Carb problems

Hey I have a trike that hasnt ran in 20 years or so and I cleaned the carb put in fresh gas and got it running. It has a round slide carb. I've got it starting good but as soon as it fires with the throttle closed it with rev right up for a few seconds then eventually start to idle. But then if you give it throttle it will bog out and die. The only way to take off is if you put it in gear right when it fires while it is reving up by itself. Also it starts best with the throttle closed. What do you guys think I need to do to get it running right? Thanks for your help

Alot of missing information..what trike are you working on?

The usual proceedure would be drain and refill tank with fresh fuel, chain oil, remove and thoroughly clean carb. All jets removed and blown thru with compressed air, and reassemble. Install fresh spark plug..best to install an inline fuel filter if there is any rust in the tank.

Most of the time when people have problems getting that old 'barn find' running is because they weren't thorough about the proceedure above.

Here is a link to some manuals: http://www.oscarmayer.net/atc/manuals/

Use it for reference to properly dissemble and reassemble your carb..
