I actually have a similar engine in my XR70 and they are much larger than the stock engine. The mounts are the same but atleast on my XR70 the side cases cover half the foot pegs and the head of the new engine is getting closing to the tire. I have seen it done before and its pretty badass, just account that you will need to buy a clutch lever and perch as that engine has a standard transmission.

I have the same kit in my 70 and it's awesome... it vibrates alot more than a Honda motor, but the price is right. For the foot pegs, I had to use 90 pegs and egg out the mount holes, there was a casting on the motor that prevented me from using stock 70 pegs. Also, I had to use an adapter to rotate the carb so it would clear the tank... also, the kicker interferes with the fender, so you can chop them(like I did), or work out some flip fenders... just trying to help you avoid the problems I ran into!

I have a lifan 125 manual clutch in a suspension 70 that I have. You may have to change the wiring if you are going to use a headlight and tail light. Also on the stock frames, people often run into carb clearance problems, but that can be fixed as well. I have a kick start engine and I did a pull start conversion to mine using a trx70 left sidecover and also by using an atc70 pull starter and atc70 stator cage for the pull starter. There was some machiningg to the recoil cage as well as drilling and tapping of 4 bolt holes into the stator itself. As for my footpegs, I took a stock set of 70 pegs and cut the peg portion away from the mount which just took some minor and careful grinding. I cut the footpegs in half in the center, and had a friend weld in a 3" or 4" section in the middle of the mount and then rotated my footpeg halves to better fit an adult rider and then welded the pegs back into place in the mount giving me a wider set of footpegs that also fit an adult rider better. You do have to mod a shifter peg to clear adult feet and shoes though. You can still run the brake cable on the right handlebar as most clutches are activated on the left handlebar lever. When you get it running, it will be a wild ride to say the least. You may want to think of building a modded and improved chain roller as well. People are using a universal roller wheel in place of the standard cog chain roll as they work better. Also some engines come with or did come with a slightly differnt front sprocket than what the stock 70 is, but they have used the chain that matched the front sprocket without having to change the rear sprocket, and I mean for link size, not sprocket tooth number. Make sure you have no bends in your frame as the cylinder head to front fender clearance is very slight on a dead straight frame.

Some good info folks. I have been thinking about this swap myself. Cheaper than buying a new recoil for one of my 70's. But I think I want a suspended frame first.
