85 350x engine SQUELCH!!!

hi guys, new here!

was riding the 85 350x tonight and the engine would cutout for a split second, and make like a squelch or chirp noise, then run fine for a mile then it started cutting out more and more... rolled to a stop and there was a constant squelching noise coming from the motor, sounded like something was loose in the motor, but i dont know what, sounded like topend issue when the bike was running. towed the bike home pulled sparkplug and the motor is kinda hard to kick over , and i can hear a slapping noise coming from the front of the crankcase. was hoping someone point me in a direction before i start tearing into this thing tommorrow! crank bearings ?? balancer bearings?? thanks in advance dano!

have you thought about checking the cam chain

Bearings maybe?That would be my bet if it was screeching

rod bearing or crank bearing would be my guess

The cam may be seizing, check the oil level........ Regardless, something will grenade itself soon.

check the oil filter, if it is put in wrong it will starve the top end of oil. Sounds like a rebuild in your future.
