Thumbs down 1985 Honda 200x kick stater question

so i bought a 200x kickstart was skipping when i would kick it over to start it. kick start return's perfect.

so i tore the motor apart today to find there nothing worng with the return spring or the rachet gear spring works good to.

when i split the crank case and looked at the kicker stuff. Looked like the gear rachet wasn't siting fulley on the gear rachet bolt on the back of the crank case would this cause it not to work cus all the kick starter gear's etc... looks in good working shape

the gear rachet bolt wasnt all the way siting on the on the gear rachet it was on the gear rachet still but not sitting where it should be

Sorta hard to picture for me but the 'search' key has been working great lately
and the manuals are free in the 'world class help' section.

I DO know there is tons of info about x kickers on here.
Looks like said 'skipping'. I thought it said slipping.

Something that sounds like 'one way clutch' comes to mind.
...so you push down as if to start it and it doesn't really want to grab predictably every time?
    If I'm hearing you right.

    I'd hit
'x kick start', with the search key and see what happens.

If it's a positioning error, lord knows who was in there doing what and lost a spacer or thrust washer.

bikebandit.com has some exploded diagrams of almost everything so maybe you can get an idea if everything is actually in there.

When the kicker assembly is all together in the cases it will sit straight so thats not the issue . The problem is the smaller spring that meshes the ratchet gears together is to weak . The correct fix is to buy the upgraded spring but its not avalible anymore so your next option is to back cut the ratchet teeth so they grab better and stretch the spring out so their is more tension on the ratchet set .

I would seriously consider cutting back the teeth now while you have it apart. It would be heartbraking if you replaced a couple parts and put it back together only to have it still slip.
