    Carb advice needed!!!

Hey guys, just picked up an old 185 suzuki trike, it needs a new carb....my question is will a carb off of a honda 200 or something like that, with the same millimeter measurements fit on the suzuki..... I believe that the suz. 's measurements are 22mm and so is the honda 200m,(forget what year) -- any help would be great guys, thanks!!!

Why does it need a new carburetor? There's not much that can go bad on those, and rebuild kits are readily available. I'd stick with the stocker man.

I would agree. Do you have the stock carb?

Im afraid there probably not much specific hands on advice for your 185, as they are pretty rare.

I have clean and rebuilt a couple like that one.

Unless you have tried to rebuild it I would try that first. A new carb is kind of spendy. (~$150). I would completely dissassemble the carb, sok the metal parts in carb cleaner overnight. Then clean them with an old tooth brush. Get a carb kit and replace all the jets and seals. It is a pretty easy process.

Yep, just take it apart and clean it, take all the jets out and clean them as well, using Gumout, or some other spray carb cleaner. Be sure you can blow cleaner or compressed air through every orifice. You may get mineral deposits or varnish, but carbs do not "corrode".

If you intend to re-use the rubber o-rings and gaskets make sure you don't let them soak in the carb cleaner, it will make them expand and deteriorate.

    Fuel in the carb

Are you sure fuel is getting to the carb? Do you have spark? These are your first two questions.

Give the spark plug the float test. Go to any body of water and throw the plug in. If it floats it is good. :-D . Seriously, if there is any ? about the plug just buy a nw one. I have seen lots of plugs that would spark when held against the motor but not make it run.

You DID unscrew all the jets right?? I was paranoid my whole life about "jet" removal until some of these guys smacked me around a couple years back. A clean fuel bowl means nothing, you have to get all those fuel passages spotless.
