Any Way to Replace Front Brake M/C Sight Glass ???

My sight glass on my 85 250r front master cylinder is crusty and soft to the touch. Anyway to replace it ? Or do I need to find another master cylinder ? Also, who makes a replacement braided front brake line ? Thanks !

I am going to go out on a limb here. 1st, there are many aftermarket master cylinders and swaps from quads that will work on the 250R, and I am sure you can find some clean OEM ones for a restoration. But if you are dead set on rebuilding and reusing your own, you can try to contact this guy.
He makes kits for the vintage street crusier honda street bikes and the sight glass kit may * May* Fit yours. But you will have to contact him and go over measurments and such.

IMHO, you may be further ahead to upgrade to a 450 R quad master or find a clean OEM 250R one on ebay.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

Thanks for the input gang ! I'm not doing a restore, just a refurbish if you will, so the trx m/c should work fine. Any ideas on a braided brake line ?? My factory one looks pretty bad, and I hate the mushy feeling from a rubber line.....Another question, what's the consensus on a replacement front tire. The factory Dunlop that's on there is in BAD shape, weather cracked and tread worn....I'm sure as heck not going to give around 300 for a discontinued tire. Anybody get anything more done about a copy tire, perhaps ????

you shoulda been on a couple weeks ago. I had two of them tires for cheap. not too many options in that tire size. most tires for an 11" wheel are utility tires. kenda max is ok. they corner well but lack a bit on braking in softer terrain. but bet is to get a 10" wheel then you have lots of options

Thanks, Ben. I figured that in an 11 inch tire, the max was about the only decent option. It still doesn't "look right" to me, at least on a "retro" style build.... 350x, any specific m/c for TRX ?? 250r, 300ex, 400ex, 450r.....???? Is it a plug a play kinda deal...like banjo bolts same thread and diameter, etc ???

you can use almost any front master. the banjo bolts can differ in length and threads but all that I have come across the bolt is 10 mm so any should fit the banjo on your line. with the right bolt it should be plug and play.

Mine is from a 400ex I think. One of the later models because it still has the brake light piece on it. Mine already came with the banjo bolt on it, but im sure theyre the same. It all bolted on perfect with no problems, i just had to bleed the line

Galfer makes a front line for the R. If you need the part # i can get it to you. I am using a 400ex master on my resto. 400 parts are very reasonable new.

I JB welded a nickel $.05 in placeof my sight glass that blew out. I never tried it out though since I had spares.
