    110 carb issue

Been fooling with this stupid thing for hours now, and wanting to hear the 3WW experts help out now.

Basically it either idles great for 10 seconds, then dies, or it idles high and then dies out. If I flip the choke on it revs up pretty high. I've moved the clip all up and down on the needle, but each giving a different result that is not a good idling bike that revs all the way up cleanly.

When I get it to rev up it pops and spits at about 3/4 throttle. I've already tried to check for air leaks on the intake. Nada, and the funny thing is that this carb has worked perfectly before with another engine.

What could it be? Pilot jet? Too big of a main jet? Maybe I just need to buy another ebay special? Anybody know where I can get a Honda genuine carb that will work? I hate these chinese carbs sometimes...

    EDIT

any opinions on a Mikuni 24mm carb? Has the same intake bolt spacing, so it should bolt right on...

What year 110 ?. They are very picky on the filter back presure . Make sure the tube in the frame is connected to the filter box and their are no leaks , not even the vent at the back of the filter box . I've also had bad carbs and couldnt fix them no matter what I did not even with rebuild kits . The slides and bores do wear out so you prob should just invest in another carb if the filter suggestion doesnt work .

I didn't even bother attempting to rebuild my 110 carb, just bought one on eBay. Mine had the pilot that pressed in and I couldn't get it out to clean it anyway

No airbox, just a direct clamp on filter.

I was looking at that Mikuni 24mm carb, but I can't find anyone who has used it on their 110. It's a 1980 BTW.

One way to know if its a back pressure issue is if you choke it half way will it rev up better ?

Not really no, it revs the same. I've never had an air box on this 110, and the 2 previous engines I've had used open air filters. The bike has a supertrapp on it if it matters, which was also used with the previous engines. When the issues were squared away, they ran awesome.

My 90 is doing the same kinda thing. oem carb is perfectly clean etc.

I may have to look elsewhere, as in spark advance/timing etc.
    You got nice monster spark?
Could it be electrical breakdown in the higher revs?

    Lazy ground?
corroded end of plug wire under the cap?
will it rev great with careful use of start fluid?
