    xr carb

I had an XR carb (26mm) on my 84 200x for a little while. It bolted up fine, and worked with the X throttle cable ok, but the throat area of the carb and the throat area of the intake boot didn't align properly, and it barely caught enough of the o-ring to seal off good. There was also a pretty big step between the two (carb and intake) that I'm sure caused quite a bit of turbulence in the air flow. To do it right, you'll need the XR intake as well. It bolts up to the head just like the X intake, and also comes off at the correct angle. You might have to heat the air box tube to get it onto the larger carb, or adapt it some way. I just butted the two up together and wrapped the joint with inner tube rubber, clamped it up with hose clamps, and sealed it with rtv.

The correct setup is an early 80s xr carb (26mm) , 80-84 xr intake manifold (not R). To hook up your air cleaner tube you must heat it up first to stretch it (unless you use a clamp on style filter). Well, hope this helps, good luck!
