opinoins wanted on 85 200x roller

ok was half asleep when i found this las'night and i've been on the look out for a 200x project. i'm wondering what you guys think about it. says built from spare parts and 90%complete roller with a 185 motor to go with it. motor need a few things though. any opinions on it? and what kind of things should i look for and check if i go to look at it. it'd only be like a 15-20 mile trip to check it out. was thinking about offering $100cash, but want to make sure it's worth it.

Hell if you got the $175 to spare you could part it and make 3X that, so no loss on your part....I'd go look at it in person...if you want to offer the $100 bucks pull it out and show it to him...lol...he may go for it...I'm supposed to check out a '83 200M and a ?? 250R roller this weekend...I would rather pick 'em up and part them then watch them go for "scrap"...

It definitely looks like a project. Honestly I think you would have more wrapped up in it to get it rideable then you could go out and buy a decent first gen 200x. First gen 200x's are pretty plentiful in these parts. You can find a decent one for $400-$500 with the correct 200x motor.

Swamp has a point....you can pick up one in half decent shape for what you would put out to fix up that one...but parting it out and making some extra project bucks is a win-win for everybody...lol

ok, that's about what i was wondering. would it be worth the trouble in the end? so, basicly the experiance of working on it would be the only real value i would be getting, but like i said i wasn't sure. true, parting it out wouldn't be bad either because it's built from spare parts anyway. just gonna have to think about this some more i guess.

swamp, i think i might get things to work out. will PM you i as soon as i get things figured out. thanks again for the heads up. who knows might run into you at CCR sometime, if i do i'll have to buy you a dirt burger.

That thing is a pig. Figure on a total top-to-bottom rebuild of every component on it.
