Operation tri-z gets a green light

Well, I just figured out my idle/ high rev dillema. My tri-z has been revving really high when you start it up, I had just rebuilt the top end, bought a new carb, and did my own jetting(the previous owner was running a #200 mainjet in the stock 32mm carb) Why didnt it blow up? Is it because it had very little compression when I bought it, well anyways I put the tri-z together, went to start it, and the bike revved so high right off idle, I thought it was going to blow up! I messed with it for weeks and couldnt figure out the problem, well as it would turn out, today I was messing around with the bike and trying to adjust the idle mixture, when it suddenly hit me. This isnt the idle mixture screw, its the idle rpm set screw! Well, The real pilot air screw was at 3.5 turns out, so I put it in to 1.0 turns out. Started the bike up, and now it wouldnt run right? Started to look around again and I took the pod filter off to look inside the carb and I finally noticed that the slide wasnt closing the whole way, this was due in fact that I tried to use a banshee thumb throttle, and it wasnt letting the slide close the whole way(anyone got a tri-z thumb throttle)? Well, unhooked the thumb throttle, gave her one kick, then it happenned, ITS ALIVE, ALIVE! It had a little bit of a stumble, but stated to give way once it warmed up, man this thing really vibrates, I have forgotten just how much of a powerhouse it really is.

I had that happen to my motorcycle this spring. I had new handle bars put on when it was in the shop for a carb. tunning (i don't want to mess with 4 carbs. at once ) and the new bars were a little taller then the stock ones. The bike ran great for 2 weeks but then would rev up when I turned sharp. Normally I wouldn't turn that sharp but my licensing test was the next week and I could see myself starting a figure eight and ending up in someones front yard doing 30mph! I bought new intake boots because mine looked cracked so I thought that was the problem but when I went to put them on I saw that the throttal cable was wrapped on the wrong side of the frame! So after $100 worth of unneeded parts I had it fixed for the test the next day.
