Winter storage thoughts? esp gas tanks

I seem to have the best luck keeping the tanks full, non ethanol gas and MAYbe some seafoam?
Drain the float bowls? or not?

What I'm not happy about is the 90 and 110 tanks.
Had 2 yesterday with leaking fuel lines and no way to shut off the gas.
Shut off is on the carbs.

So they got yanked, rinsed with HEET, that super evaporative moisture killer and hung out to dry.
Now what?
Spray some 2 stroke oil in the tanks and keep them high and dry all winter?

My orig owner sx had been all drained and gas cap left on.

It sweated so bad over the years it had been
stored you could shove 4 fingers thru the bottom of the tank.

Might be time to break down and POR 15 and turn that rust into black glass.

My shop is heated so not as much to worry about..throw about an ounce of isopropyl alcohol which helps remove the water from the fuel, fill the tank to the top, drain the carb bowls, pull the batteries for those that have, change the oil and diff oil, cover and store.

Probably won't sit more than a couple months anyway.

I agree, non ethanol gas to keep stuff from rotting and keep tanks full so no air, no oxygen to rust.
Maybe a lil' dash of seafoam. They say it keeps gas for 2 years. Never used it tho.

The sx's and br's get used all winter and a 90/110 or 2.
The prob is with the others.
Between trail 90's, xl 100's, and a few random 90 110's, I think I have...
9 gas tanks hanging on fence posts in the sun all nice and clean and dry.

I just don't trust the 90/110 tanks because there are 4 potential leaks per tank since the shut offs are on the carbs, not the tanks.

Maybe I have too many trikes but they ALL get used in the summer.

If you buy a can of 'fogging' spray intended for winterizing outboard motors that would probably be just the thing you are speaking of..

Sure sounds like the perfect name.
I've seen moisture and rust on parts that actually have oil or grease on them.
Somehow moisture gets trapped under the grease,

so something special for this exact purpose would be a dream.

It's gonna be in the 90's and super dry for the next week so I think I'll just do 'em all.
Some will get the muriatic acid rinse, and the rest super dried and that trick spray.

I like the just ride it in the winter idea, but if your not going too, put some seafoam in as a stabilizer.

Thats what I am talking about... Between pushing snow, and ice fishing, my BR gets the most miles in the winter!

Winter riding is by far the best. Whats better than plowing, drifting, ice fishing, ice racing, and just speeding down a lake!
