I wouldn't have guessed a T3 would run an HID with the huge voltage jumps it makes. Any tricks involved?

Thanks guys. I'll try and get a diagram up of the harness if you guys want. It's not that difficult to make, just takes time and patience to figure things out.
fabiodriven: No tricks, right now it's just a lot of guesswork based off of the math. My main concern is that the HID might suck too much current for the lighting coil to keep the battery charged. If that is the case, then I will have to drop to a 35 watt HID. Will post the results as soon as my battery comes in. Last nights blackout delayed my shipment until the middle of next week.
I also want to try the system out with a 35w HID and the stock 55w lighting coil to see if it puts out enough to handle it, so upgrading to a Ricky Stator 65w coil won't be necessary.

Don't forget to calculate the rear light and LED's. It adds up, depending how powerful your LED's are.

The way I have the bike wired up is with 11 lights. That's the headlight and 10 red LED's. There is 2 strings of LED's that are paralleled together. Each of the lights in each string is series'd together, so 5 LED's per string. 3 of the LED's on one string are inside of the tail light. It's actually a bit brighter than the stock 12V 5W light bulb, for just 3 LED's. I didn't make a fancy mount, I just soldered the LED prongs to the light bulb base, I'll have to pull it apart to get a pic. Not worried about the solder breaking off, and even if it does, I wired the wiring harness directly to the LED's so nothing goes through the original bulb base. Another thing, it's just a 200X light/bracket zip tied to the frame
It will work for now. The math says I will be around 4.3 amps with all of the lights working at 13.6 volts, and the coil at 13.6 volts should be capable of putting out up to 4.7 amps. It's all going to be really close, so I'm hoping the math is close enough to the real world current draws.

I've been interested in doing this for a while and will be veryu interested to see if the battery will stay charged
How many watts are the LEDs?
I'm sure with the right setup that the battery will stay charged- I'm using a pretty power hungry headlight.
My friend suggested that I try vision X Solstice LED's, so sometime in the future I might get some of them to try. I could run 2 spot and 2 flood lights and still be less than the 55w HID.
riverrat: Not sure, I think they're 80 milli-watts, so 0.08 watts a piece.

Ok that's really low. I have quite a bit of knowledge on LED's as I use them on my night flying planes. They have some really brite ones out there that can draw 3watts or more, and that would add up quick.

Neat. I am using DW Foamies' Flite Lights on my airplanes. Total power consumption is 0.5 amps, and they're powered off of my flight packs.

Is that you flying? If so you are pretty good, actually very good. My3-D stuff is rusty as I haven't flown much the last 3 years. Going to the NEAT fair next weekend where we have the night time balloon popping contest. That is what my Pheonix 100 with Demension engineering lights is for. I don't remember all the specifics because I set it up a few years back, but I think I draw close to 1amp. I use a separate BEC to drive the lights, off my flight pack. I purpose built that plane to compete in the contest. There can be as many as 30 planes trying to pop one balloon at times, and my plane can take the beating. Last year I had like 5 mid-airs, and a few encounters with the balloon string, and she kept right on flying.
There are some pretty intense LED's you can get off ebay for cheap. I was thinking of tricking out my trike with LED's for headlights, and under the plastic. was going to hide the LED's in the number plate.
