    Please HELP a new member please.How do I change my front sprocket on my 83 big red?

    Hi thanks in advance.I have an 83 big red i am trying to get to the front sproket i think its worn out.Does anyone know how the hell to get to it it seems impossible.please please please.Ive already took the hi low off and got into a mess please help me

    ok i already have the manual downloaded thank you Rob.Do I need to split the motor to get tto it it seems that i do im going to remove the pull start and see if that is where i start.I have looked at the blow ups of it but I dont see any detailed descriptions on how to do it in the manual.Please reply i dont want to keep taking more apart

    you have to pull the pull start cover, starter cup, flywheel bolt use impact gun it will make your life easier then the side cover. Then if memory serves me you have to remove flywheel which will require the puller, and gears then the cover behind the flywheel. Its actually pretty involved and a pain right in the if you ask me.

    NOOOOOOOO....thanks Rod that was what i was afraid of.unfortunatly im not a mechanic it sounds like thats what i need.I might be able to do it myself but the pulley would be a pain to find im assuming.ah what to do what to do.......I should mention i do have an 82 big red as well but its motor burns a little oil and the plastic is shot,tank has holes,and has no key ect u get the picture.damn i really dont know what to do i sure cant afford to pay someone.hmmmm any suggestions guys?

    als as a side note by gears do you mean i will have to pull the hi low anyway?and why the f did they have to make it soo complicated when its a wear and tear part?

    The subtranny complicates the front sprocket. The 110 and 125 are the same way

    ughh mabey I dont even need to change it.The problem is its sounds like its slipping when going up a steep hill in 1st.I tightened the chain but itwouldnt fit on the back sprocket right it wasnt rolling smoothly in nuetral.im probably fked.
