    tri-z wrench report phase 2

    Hey ill probably try this wrench report this winter on my tri-z but i need info from peaple who did phase 2 on theyre trike.

    When im speaking with peaple about milling the head They told me that make the motor heating. .. and its saw phase 1 mill .5 you should have 170-175 psi then phase 2 mill .75 then you shouldstill keep 175 psi ? HOW lol It is the fact that bigger porting result less compresion then machining the head give it back?

    When you raise the exhaust port on a 2 stroke you lower the compression (you don't start to build compression until the rings clear the last opening in the cylinder). Shaving the head reduces the space left to compress that lesser amount of air thus giving you back the lost compression. If you shave it too much it will heat, but 175psi should not cause a problem.

    As far as the results of stage II mods, my engine and add on parts are all to that spec, but with smaller transfer ports (11 X 18mm VS 12 X 24mm) and some additional cleaning up of the transitions at the base of the cylinder. Goes like a raped ape and will lift in 5th if blipped a couple times and nailed as the fork springs unload, but I can't say how it compairs to stock as I've never rode a stocker. I also haven't tried to climb a hill with this engine yet, so for all I know it may fall flat on its face when torque is needed. Have fun.

    You did the airbox mod too withthe one they tell to use from K&n? it fix good ?

    I run a UNi Filter off the end of the 38 Kehin, no air box.

    FYI: Don't bother with a K&N off a Banshee, they don't fit (I have a new one for sale)
