cr 125 motor in atc 250r frame

I have heard of the combo being talked about, but I have never seen it done. Does anyone know someone that has done it or seen it done. I think that it would be a fun amount of power. I am pretty sure that it would power it sense they put 80cc cr's and yz's motors in 250r frames. Thanks

    Why?

edit: Eh, I guess that would have its place. Sorry I scoffed at the idea.

I talked with a fellow a few months ago who said he used to race a CR125 Powered 200X back in the day. Also, I believe 250RMAD found one hanging from a roof in a barn near where he lives.

That may be a better choice.

I also visited with a guy a year to two ago who was selling a Selvy 200R about 3 hours away from me. He was a racer from back then and said besides the 200R he had a CR125 3 wheeler he raced back then too. He was supposed too, but never sent me pics of it. The way I understood him though, is his was an MX bike conversion.

    Good Luck!

Most of the time, when you see a conversion that "doesnt seem to make good sense", its done for competition reasons to fit into a certain designated class.

Back in the mid 80's there were actually junior classes that ran 80cc and 125cc trikes. Most of the 80cc trikes were dirtbike conversions but in some cases there were engine swaps into existing 3 wheel chassis. Jackie Meadows successfully ran a 125cc powered Tecate with Factory Kawasaki support. I still have a magazine with the test of this bike somewhere and it was very trick.

You can probably stumble across one of these machines somewhere if you really wanted one.

I recently found a nice 86R frame, but without an engine. Would the engine from a DT250 fit in that, or the engine from an RM250?

A newer cr125 motor will make good power and there is an awsome aftermarket following for it just like your 250r so I'm sure its possible and will turn out great. In a year or so I hope to stuff a kx500 motor into my 85 Tecate or at least a new kx250 motor. Good luck and be sure to put up some pics when you do it!
