Are the 81-82 ATC250R rear axles interchangeable?

You can put a 81 axle in a 82 model but can't put a 82 axle in an 81 model . Some mods are required to do this .

What kind of mods? I have an 81, I may part. I was going to keep the axle for my 82 as a spare. Would I just better off selling the 81 axle and buying an 82 later if needed?

The 81 will need about a 3/8" spacer at the large carrier nuts because the difference between the drum and the disk sizes . The trick was to dremal out an extra axle nut and use that as the spacer .
