    hand guards

Wow! Lots of angry responses. I didn't think it would be that bad. I am pretty sure that if I hit a tree it won't matter what type of hand guard I have it will hurt. I am not saying this is going to stop a tree, I just want to shield the wind and stop the stick from slapping my hand. Also when I head up north to ride when it is 0 degrees or colder the plastic handguards aren't all that effective. Reinforced or not, cold plastic is brittle. Has anyone seen the handguards the cross country riders use. They are like 1/2" x 1" strap that cover the hand?
