Buy an 83 BR if you want chain drive..but just the same the 85-87 BR was the best designed ever..who would want to change it??

DONT do it! If you want a chain drive buy a 200x or something! The fabrication involved in such a project doesnt bear thinking about. Dont hack up a perfectly good BR just to get chain drive.
In earnest, what is your reason for wanting to do this?? The shaft drive setup on the BR's is simple, reliable and very low mantainence.
