It's very simple. Find 12 volts, find a ground, viola! What is it you are missing?

Couldn't find my multi-meter, but when I took the wire off the lights and tapped it on the connectors I got a little spark indicating to me there was power, I even tried a fresh ground and different switch just to narrow down the problem and still nothing.
Gotta ask bro, sorry to do this. Did you wire the switch properly? 12v to neutral position and ground to the switched position?Originally Posted by ben.simons:1058279
What kind of lights?
I bet it won't run an HID / ballast light because 185s is an AC system.
Anything more than about 40watts will be dim and maybe won't appear to be working.
Do the stock lights work now?

I was just going to ask some of the same questions. The stock system is AC, so anything other than just a plain bulb won't work without rectification at the least, and possibly a higher output lighting coil. The stock headlight is only 35w.
You might find that purchasing a stock headlight from ebay or a member here is easier than trying to do something aftermarket. I find the stock headlight on my 200s plenty bright.
Well... You could always convert it to a floating ground, run a regulator/rectifier, a 12v battery and then plop in a 35W HID... Not sure if your stator can charge the battery though. Or you can run a pair of 10W Vision X LED's.

Does anyone know if a honda 79 90cc or 110cc atc are 12V or 6V? I hooked up a headlight from a 200S, it works but when the bikes idle the light is dim, when accelerate, the lights gets brighter. Is that normal?
Stock light don't work. Bulb went and had the local cycle shop order new ones and don't fit in the glass. The guy I bought it from must have put glass from a different year on it and I can't find the correct bulb anywhere
Normal. Careful if you don't have a tail light. These systems are unregulated. Well, actually, the bulbs are the regulators and if one dies the other one quickly follows on the next hi-rev.
I'm not sure about voltages but I believe 70 & 90 are 6V, non-CDI 110 is 6V, and CDI 110 is 12V. 185, 185s, 200, 200s, etc are 12V.
