I hate these new rules. I find most of my questions answered by searching so I usually don't need to post but now I need help and can't seem to get the vets to look at my post in the noob section. Don't get me wrong, I understand the rule, just venting I guess . Poor me lol

    another thought

Over the next two months and maybe 9 good or not so good posts...as I clean out my pole barn of ATC stuff, not one member here will get to benefit from it and it will be scratched from my resources as well...is that really worth it?

I wonder how many other potential members will not wait two months to go through an integrity test?

By the way I am ACCA as well on vintagesleds.com, minibikeforum and Arctic Cat Club of America.

We discussed the minimum rule on a forum I own and we used it for a big swap we had, we asked for and got each member that wanted to be involved to post a private address, e-mail and phone number. We had no issues, gripes or problems.

So as a moderator of 2 other forums, would you consider that petty complaints consume most of your time?
Did you sign on here just to sell your stuff and leave? Or to get involved with topics and discussion of 3 wheelers?

If you are concerned with your barn full of parts not reaching the members here, you can always use Ebay, and most guys on here will find your stuff.

The rules are in place here. It is the way it is. You can spout off all you want about not liking them, but it will not get anything revoked or even accomplished.
Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...

No petty complaints at either forum I run. I do have a webmaster who runs the finances and the day to say of the club.
The forum I am in charge of has occasional issues but very mild-we have about 4 mods. Most everything is taken care of 1:1 and an occasional banning-we are on ProBoards.

Did you sign on here just to sell your stuff and leave? Excellent question because we have newbie gives and a large round robin-some members question the motives of those people at times but we still pay it forward-perhaps there is a bitter taste from being burned in this forum before and that is understandable. I came here from Google on a search for Honda Big Reds-I purchased one tonight. I could sell on E-bay but posting on a classified and linking to e-Bay seems to not sit well with most people at VintageSleds.com, I am not an administrator there but am an active member. I came here to share, information, sources, techniques, etc. as decals-restoration and such are the same for snowmobiles and mini-bikes.

Or to get involved with topics and discussion of 3 wheelers? That would have been my obvious choice.

If you are concerned with your barn full of parts not reaching the members here, you can always use Ebay, and most guys on here will find your stuff. I have answered the E-Bay option....and people come and go easily there but I trust my friends and members on other sites more than E-Bay. I also do shows on a regular basis and know the importance of a person's credibility. It's way more than E-Bay stars.

The rules are in place here. It is the way it is. You can spout off all you want about not liking them, but it will not get anything revoked or even accomplished.

I was only discussing an opinion not spouting off and no where did I read the newbie clause BEFORE joining, if it is there then my apologies for missing it.
I hope this clears up any questions.

I respected and enjoyed Mosh's pointed questions-I posted my opinion like many others that I read on this thread.

Not a hearty welcome for someone who appreciates ATC's the same as many...

    sorry

Where did that come from...? I introduced myself as the thread asked, answered Mosh's questions, perhaps being new is not allowed.

    Thanks for the pleasant welcome

ACCA, Welcome to the site. I hope you can understand that lately we have had quite a few members sign in with the only intent of selling stuff / scamming other users without helping out the site in any way. The bad part is that this hurts the regular users that help out, and try to sell their extra parts. I for one didn't like the new rule myself, how ever I knew something had to be done. Now that it has been in place for a little while I'm begining to like it.
yes it is a double bladed sword, but like anything you have to take the good with the bad. This rule has actually been more good than bad.

    Thank you Howdy.

I was not expecting rules to change for me, just pointing out another perspective.

I listed a way to check my integrity via other sites not to avoid the months of getting involved.

It is necessary to guard against scams.

Hoosier-I was not asking for an argument, just something more than a rude welcome.

It is the rules, but as a moderator and long time member of many sites I have seen rules change just like they do around us. Selling a three wheeler used to be...LOL.

See ya all in 2months-if I remember-I'm getting old

Its become necessary not so much just for an integrity check (Which is important undoubtedly, but we get probably 25-30 registrations per day, thats not something I have the time and resources to undertake at the moment, not sure anyone else would volunteer for it either) but the biggest issues were:

People un-familiar with forum and discussion board etiquette joining the site. This includes posting several threads asking the same question in the wrong areas of the site, being beligerant to other members that were trying to help them because they werent replying fast enough. Over the years of watching the site and board I know that the first month or so of new peoples membership is when this phase is at its worse, and if the person hangs around longer than that they get over it and (typically) become good contributing members themselves.

People were also trying to use the board as a replacement for a service manual by asking extremely mundane questions and not using the search system. You can only answer the question of what kind of spark plug should an ATC110 have twice a week for 10-12 years before you get weary. I found that this type of discussion often bogged down other more fruitful discussions and the majority of the membership agreed that you can only answer stuff like that so often before your just sick of it. This is another phase that seems to wear off after people have been here a while and we finally convince them to go buy a service manual and try and learn a little bit about their machines themselves, to get off the computer and in garage.

We also had issues with the classified forum usage by people using it strictly for their own gain, and for people doing rip offs. There was just starting to be a lot of shady stuff going on, and frankly still a bit too much for my liking.

We actually discussed having a competency test, a question and answer examination for new membership at one point which I would still support but this seemed like a happy medium instead of making someone try and answer 20 questions to join. I'd still like to at some point offer a test to the new membership and if they can pass it they will automatically be moved to the full member user group, but I haven't figured out a way to automate that yet. My main goal with this was to make the site more about QUALITY membership and not necessarily quantity. Google has been great for bringing traffic and tons of new people here, but its complicated things to a certain extent too.

You just did. Every time you type a response to a thread, that counts as 1 post.
