    Winch on your trike?

Anyone have a winch on their trike? I have an 84' BR and was wondering if I should put a winch up on the fromt rack. Any suggestions? Preferences? How about some pictures too? Appreciate the help. Thanks.

I have a 2000lb winch on my Fourtrax that will be one of my projects over the winter..relocate to my 250ES.

The ES and the SX are my two main machines now..the quad just rides along in the trailer when my brother and I go away for the weekend.

Fourtrax is our backup in case of mechanical issues with the trikes..it's never happened to date though, probably because they're Hondas

Anyway the install is pretty straight forward..you need a good battery, run the wires, mount the winch!!

mine is simply two wires going to the battery, then the winch is bolted to a plate of 1/4" steel, then the steel is bolted onto the rack.. few people thought it wouldnt hold but i have pulled the trike outta some pretty nasty mud with it

Well much thanks to chuckiedog04, I got a dependable winch at a steal and also with some of his recommendations/advice, I'm all set up and ready to take on some mud. Thanks to all of those who put in their 2 cents. Here are a few pics...

I see Farm & Fleet has 2000 lb winches for $50 and 3000lb for $90 this Friday. I told the wife to pick up one of each if she can make it in time.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Actually picked it up from Itrike about a year ago or so. He's always got something nice, usually very nice. Trying to clean it up even more if I can. Gonna do a bit here and there over time.

Don't have any of those near me, I don't think. That's certainly not a bad deal. Probably worth it to hang on to if anything. By the way, what kind of trails do you have around you? Looking to take the BR there somewhere along with the new Polaris Sportsman 500 I recently picked up. Plans are to hit the Tri-County Trails (Cheese Country trails) this weekend. Any recommendations? Looking for something to hit in the near future. Thanks.

Have since added speed holes in the gussets, to take down the bulky look, and added my gun rack where my foot prints are... (yes I was standing on my rack)
No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

Wow! That looks great. Maybe a future project. Except, I can't do any of that work myself. That is the welding and looks like the rack is modified or a special make. Which is it? Where can I get one like that?

Highly modified 85 ES rack... It was a pile of crap rack, i cut it up, replaced all the damaged tubes, moved the side tubes as far forward as possible, gusseted the sides, and formed the top plate, stitch welded the perimeter, and a few welds underneath to keep everything tied together... Add 2000lb winch, syn. cable, and aluminum hawse (and mounts) and presto... One very beefy front rack. I was bending the rack when I had the winch bolted onto the factory rack, when the snow was wet, and the plow was in the snowbank... Where can you get one? I would sell you my rack for a small fortune, but the good news is, it comes with the trike attached!

Amazon is a good place to get a decent deal on a winch... Highly recommend the thumb switch.
