I personally think this configuration would really suck in the dirt. I don't see what all the interest is.
    Different strokes for different folks.

I too fail to see a practical reason for building something like this, unless just to be different.
Different is where it's at, and that's what I try to collect or build.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a missile kit...I'd fab something similar of my own just as good if not better?

That's precisely what the complete TRX250R is to me spare parts. It wouldn't be cut up. The swingarms would merely be changed out.

    No imagination?

This little blurb from the article made me laugh:"The bad: off camber means off to the hospital".

Would like to see part 2 of this article to see whether or not they were able improve on this little experiment. Wonder how it went for them.
    Current trikes owned:

    1985 Yamaha Tri-Z 250...fully restored

    1985 Honda 250 SX...nice survivor original condition

I really love it cuz it is different. I would use a trx250r and a middle kit to make one in a second if I had the two parts. No cutting of any sort. Just bolts. I would not want to ruin an atc250r with a missle kit. So it could take a 4 wheeler and make it a 3 wheeler. It would be contributing more to a trike collection.

I agree it would be a very odd handling thing. Would not be my regular rider but cool either way. Just out a durablue sway bar on the front.

If anyone is selling a missle kit let me know!

I love this design, it may be less than perfect for hard-core riders like most of us here.

But the uniqueness of this design makes it very desirable..I'd love to own one.

Did any of these machines make it out to the general public or did the ban shut them down 1st?

They weren't sold all together like this. The article is just showing what u could do. It's an astro kit on the front of a big wheel or fat cat.

And really the ban wouldn't effect this idea cuz there was no 3 wheeler to start. It creates one.

Doing it with a 250R would look soooo much better

Im pretty sure it was the crappy idea that halted production lol. Come on, it doesnt take a rocket surgeon to figure out this wont have any desirable handling characteristics..... at all. Maybe if you can design a way for the frame to articulate(or is it oscillate) seperate from the front suspension therefore putting the rear tire at a useful angle.................................. wait.................. no I'm wrong, this idea sucks. Good luck

Last I checked the wheel in the rear creates some nice handling for street riding. But, too much power and not enough steering would certainly lead to death trap.

I suppose with a 400 rear tire and a stupidly stiff front suspension it would work. Less weight and the Gs from turning would be transferred to the front suspension. But once you cross that point and it doesn't break aloose...... Death trap.

Sounds like you copy/pasted a 4wheelers argument about the trikes...not much original thought here!

I thought trikers were more open-minded??

I'm gonna guess the rear end would be squirrely and the front would handle like a quad. I still wouldn't mind taking one for a spin!! It would definitely be a killer donut machine. I wonder if you could ride a wheelie!? I kinda like the idea of a 3x3.

i was thinking the exact same thing doug, well said. everyone is complaining with thoughts and opinions basically that all the trike haters say about 3 wheelers. we r supposed to embrace this 3 wheeled idea. I'm sure with the proper riding technique and smarts, and not pushing it past its limits, this could be fun to ride. not saying it is superior to anything else out there because i don't know. but i am not shutting it down. i am making this my mission to create one. even if its years down the road. who is selling a missile kit?? anyone.....

It definitely wouldn't excel at anything, but it would be interesting. Good luck!

Perhaps we have found something to do with all those front end parts left over after TPC gets done making 450r's into what they need to be! A whole new market for them! LOL

I love this thread. Everyone hates change. They didnt build them cause they suck. Whats wrong babys dont want to see change? Dont want to see a tpc 450 trike? What about a gay as hell cr 500 powered gay looking 250r. Those are gay. This is new. Im currently building one to see how it works. The rest of you guys 99% are all just cruseing youtube with nothing better to do then bust up a cool idea. Dont like it. Try to get off your ass to find a better way of doing this. IE out side the box. Im stoked for this. I have a couple pics from this thread to help me with mine. Aka Modzilla.
