Does anyone have a suzuki sidekick?

My fascination has recently swapped from the suzuki samurai to the sidekick 4 dr. I'm probably gonna get one in the next few months to replace my aging scion. ONly an 05, but it has a ridonculous amount of miles on it.

Wanna do something like this... a little less aggressive on the lift and the tires. as it's gonna be a daily driver.

I had a Suzuki Sidekick JX 2dr 4X4 and I loved it! Unfortunately some dumb Schlumba hit me and totaled it. It out wheeled my Wrangler all day long. The Wrangler was a 4.0 and the JX was a 1.8(I think) They were both stock except for over size tires and wheels. With the JX having such a short and narrow wheel base, it would climb anything! I say try and get a 2dr though.

1.6l is the one I'm after. Same hp but 20% better mileage.

I originally wanted the 2dr sami, but the 4dr is much more practical.

Gonna have to make it as reliable as this Toyota has been though lol

I had no mechanical issues at all with mine. Which is surprising. I put that thing through hell and high water. Literally, drove it through countless campfires(young, dumb and full of ... back then) and had water over the hood numerous times.

I used to wheel with a guy who had one, they are tuff as nails and hard to kill. If they get stuck a sportsman can pull it out! , I think they were where the side by sides got started lol

I heard that, I figure if they are so bulletproof offroad, they should handle my driving okay.

Thing is, I want a vehicle I can drive cross country in at a moments notice. Just trying to work out if it will work, or if I should keep the scion too.

Thats not mine, just the best example of what I'm doing when I manage to find one.

Finding a 1995-98 with a clean history from a state that doesn't see snow is impossible. Especially below 125k miles.

Got the lift picked out, bumpers, winch, tires, alternator bracket, new alternator, battery, everything... Just have to find the unit!

Got a nice one for sale in San Francisco, just need my scion to sell first.

I have owned 3 sidekicks. Great little machines. I never lifted one, but always put larger tires on them. I used them for hunting and commuting to work daily. They will go anywhere and never seem to die. I live in Canada, so the only complaints I have with them was the heater did not keep you warm on the highway in the winter, although I always had the convertable model. Also they really seam to rust bad , in my area of Canada.

Picked up a sweet 95 last night. A few small issues, but so far it seems to run well.

    Pics soon.

My dad bought me one... maybe 10 years ago ( i was 9 ) for our bush lot at the cottage.
I learnt standard when i was 9 years old, driving up and down our privately owned road, and off roading in the bush.
Those things are unstoppable! Until you have an electrical issue that you cannot find. Like mine...
I beat the snot out of it for 8 years, and she won't do anything any more. I'll get around to looking at it one of these days.
We since have bought another one, but it needs an oil pan, and on a 92, you have to pull the motor to replace the oil pan, and that isn't happening any time soon.
I miss it, but, i guess a couple 85 - 95 blazers / jimmys i have will do the trick.... and the 350x.

Nice buy. Me and my father have had over a dozen of these machines. I believe the 4 doors in those years were all 1.8's while the two doors were 1.6's. They rust real bad in my area and it's next to impossible to find one in good shape.

They can go almost anywhere. Throw a body lift from calmini on it, a set of fairs and some 31's and your good to go.

Well here it is, cleaned up pretty well. Brakes are done, fluid swaps, just waiting on parts and trying to decide what tires.

Runs excellent, needs power steering pump (previous owner overfilled and bearing on pulley is going, still works fine though), changing all hoses, belts, and a pulley or two when I do the ps pump and timing belt.
