1984 Honda 250r Rear Shock and Linkage

Hey ya'll, I'm building an 84 250r and I was wondering what year's rear shocks and linkage will match up with my 84- if any. I appreciate any info ya'll have to offer.

I'm pretty sure the '83 and '84 250R used the same rear suspension.Very different than the '81-'82.You might be able to get the '85-'86 stuff to work but your bikes rear shock lays down more than any of the other year 250r"s

Correct on the 81' and 82'.. 83' and 84' were upgraded to the pro link suspension.. Im not sure if 85' and 86' will fir though, but 83' or 84' will definitely be a straight match.

Thank ya'll. I going from the frame up and I just got me an 84 swingarm for $0.99. I think the hardest thing to come by will be a cheap rear axle. Will the 83 do
    for that as well?

    Thanks again.

I do believe so... how did you get the swingarm for .99$? how much is the shipping?

The 83 and 84 are a little different. I think the links are different.

Shipping was $15. There's always a catch. But I don't think I did too bad.

.099$ sounds like an E-Bay deal to me as long as the bearing housings are not all butchered up!!!

We'll see when it gets here, but the pics didn't look bad. I tried to copy and paste the link to the auction, but I guess I can't since it ended.

Alright, so I've got the 84 swingarm and linkage. Can I go with an 83 shock?

Also, I am interested in an 84 rear axle if anybody has one. And I've got what I believe to be an 82 muffler with the plastic. Would be interested in selling for cheap or trading for 84 parts.

The 83 - 84 rears swingarms are slightly different .If you use a 83 swingarm shock ,linkage ,dogbone and rear shock mount it will all bolt into a 84 and Same with the 84 into the 83 you have to use everything .If you try to mix and match the 83 84 parts it going to be a pain. The 83 rear engine upper shock mount is different than the 84 aswell. The 83 shock rezzy hose comes out the side of the shock and the 84 it comes out the top.I think axles are the same.If you have the 84 swingarm already try to get the rest of the 84 suspention aswell.Just my two cents.
