    ATC 70/TRX 70 Question

What is the difference in the pull start assembly between the 73-74 and 78-85 ATC's and the 86-87 TRX? Will all these interchange? I notice the springs have different part numbers for the 78-85 ATC compared to the 86-87 TRX. What is interchangable on these guys? I realize the 73-74 doesn't have the neutral idicator built in, but not knowledgable on the differences in the pull starts assemblies with other models. Thanks for your help.

This was just discussed in the newb section- http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthr...er-differences . Kinda like the 90-110-125 pull starters, they look the same but the depths changed a little.

73-74 and 78-81 ATC 70 are all the same. 82-85 ATC70 are all the same. the guts on everything from 78-85 are the same. 73-74 guts will work in all the others but have a slight difference in the little cover plate to the pawls. the 86-87 TRX 70 is an entirely differant animal and nothing from it will work on the ATC.

there are 2 different housings for the ATC and one for the trx's as you can see by the picts . the trx is totally different inside too..
the trx is the one on the right side .. the narrow housing is the early years...

Thanks Kasey! I can't get the pics to open here but I will look at them when I get home. The spring is my biggest issue. I seem to have gotten lucky and gotten pull starts on all the 70's I bought except one. My 87 TRX needs a spring though.

My 87 trx70 had a broken recoil spring when I bought it. I used a brand new spring for a 78-85 atc70. It fit and 2 years later when I sold it it was still working fine.
