As much as I hate to I have to agree with ya, I had a nice clean 75 DT400 and I could hardly get the front wheel off the ground... and yes it did have street gearing but it felt like it was ready to self destruct at 65 on the highway...

Just weld on a few cans of beans to the exhaust. Then you'll have all the gas you need.
This is my trike. There are many like it but this one is mine. My trike is my best friend, and it is my life. I must master it as I must master myself. My trike without me is useless. Without my trike, I am useless. I must ride my trike true. My trike and I know that what counts is not the amount of miles we ride, but the time we ride together. My trike is human in it's own ways, therefore I will learn it as my brother. I will learn it's weaknesses, it's strengths, it's parts, and it's soul.

you most likely have a dt-1 5 port cylinder normaly found on endro bikes it has no reeds this motor was a dt-1 but i had this yz top end and pistion for it its a dt-2 7 port with reeds so the motor is pretty much a yz 250 with street gears and has more power than a chinenes 125 could ever make

They had reed valves on the 400's in 75, and yes you will have more power... at least until the vibrations from your... I guess we'll call it a "One piece jack shaft" blows the case to pieces, But I don't have no doubt you'll have fun while it lasts. If that doesn't work, try scraping the resin out of your pipe and giving it another shot...

Oh come on guys, you can't honestly tell me none of you have ever wanted to throw something together, something crazy, and just ride nine hells out of it until it breaks. That's why we have dog ugly, cheap trucks that we throw around and beat up, beater trikes and the like. Only this time, someone is making the cheap and crazy themselves. That same concept is why alot of guys sleep with girls they wouldn't want their friends to see. Cheap, easy, fun, and you don't mind if something gets broke.

I say ride it like you stole it, wear your protective gear, and drag it home when it falls apart. It's all about having fun.

it snowed like crazy last night so i ended up riding this thing around town since they only plow main roads i was able to pass cars for once
then the rear sprocet hit the curb and snaped 4 bolts after pushin it home its now perimently welded in place
the next thing i may want to add is brakes there are big hills around here and 2 strokes dont have much back pressure

i'm sure the garage door has alot more parts so you can get some brakes fabbed up.lol. I understand the need or want to have a suicide machine but I don't think I would want any machine I cant stop. although this thing is rigged to all hell I do respect your ambition.

Brakes - on our blasters, we have used street bike brakes. of kantana 600s and what not - you can get calipers and pedals for about $15 off ebay if you look hard enough.

...I'd port and pipe that thing still !! get more all around power, a smoother power band. And passing some one with a drag style pipe would make them giggle. Your playing with 70s ports and pipes, i imagine you could easily get 20 percent more power throughout the ENTIRE rpm range.
I just wanna go fast. If your not first, your last!!

Seeing this thread made my day. I wanted to do something similar for a long time. Never got a tiny junker to work with. My plans was a YZ125 water cooled 1981 motor I had lying around. The giant pipes for those things are a to fit in a small frame.
