Have your counter balancer and water pump done too. My feelings and experience with esr is tom will tell you that everything last for ever and no one replaces anything in there tranny or water pump or CB bearings and he has never herd of this or that about anything else. They only like to do crank rebuilding and selling parts. They dont offer powder coat or nothing. And the chrome or nickle fell off my pipe in a 1/2 hr of use. Go on trx250r.net Them guys on there really mess with there motors and its all 250R too. I think I PM'ed awhile back? I know with my deal it was janssens motorsports and ers made me the messenger and I got caught in the middle of it. But alot of people have had good luck with them.People have problems with duncan racing and CT too and some dont. Unfortunately having motor work done is almost always hit and miss. Im sure alot of people could chime in and vouch for that with having the car motors machined on or rebuilt for a cruzer car. Dishonest people suck. My 330is on its way from BDT now and I pray that its gonna be all good it cost alot.

Already have the billet counterbalancer carrier and new counterbalancer bearings about 25 engine hours ago. Everything is still good and tight... As a matter of fact, every bearing in that bottom end was changed at that time including crank and all transmission bearings....except for the lower rod bearing.

So Pantera, you are saying ESR outsourced some of your work to Janssens Motorsports and you had some issues with the service at Janssens?? I don't want to get into too much public bashing about companies here. That is not my intent of this thread. If you want to give me some details on your bad experience send me a PM...

I do remember you PMing me a while back. I just plain forgot to check out that other site. Who/what is BDT?

Nevermind, I just found your PM and my questions are answered......

Jannsens is a local shop that said they wanted to do the motor. I got the new cyl from esr, and crank and they took it apart and put it back together. They are too caught up in racing I think. Spending racing isnt gonna pay the bills forever if your team dont do good.

For ESR, but you can go much bigger on stock stroke.

request that the spark plug is angled like stock. Most of the aftermarket heads, the spark plug comes straight up w/o angle, it hits the frame. Especially on 85 frames. I had to grind the frame tube, so the plug would fit in, even then, it was very hard to change the plug w/o removing the gas tank.

Or you have to buy the 15 dollar shorty style plugs which starts to get expensive if your messing with jetting and dialing. Great point here deathman

Saleenster: Interesting....I thought the 370 was the point one had to start strokin the crank... < (EGAD that didn't sound right! LOL!)

R-tifacts: Currently running the Keihin 38mm PWK (ESR Airstryker)

Deathman: Thanks for the advice on that! I will certainly see if they can set the head up for the angled plug.

Max: Yes, $15 a pop for plugs is a little more than I want to spend on plugs.

    Thanks for the help guys!

In my 86 frame the br9es cleared fine and as long as you don't use the hard plastic NGK style cap it fits. IDK on a 85 like mentioned above. That would suck. aren't all the BB cylinders the same on the out side just bigger sleeves?

You can run a stock stroke Puma, Saber, Rotax, etc. These are all 400+ cc combinations in their larger bore

    Holy smokes!

I did manage to find CP Industries site last night and I was flabbergasted by the displacement you could get with them from the Puma's and Sabertooth's! Crazy thing is, I only live about 45 miles from one of their dealers here in NY (D@D Powersports, Lowville, NY). Couldn't find any pricing on them though. I suspect they are quite a bit more spendy than what I'm currently looking into. And my build budget is about maxed out as-is..... I'm no duner, so I think the ESR setup will lay my hair back pretty good for what I do... It IS quite interesting though, finding out that there are quite a few other builders out there still making big bores for our old pingers. Before I really started looking seriously into this I kind of thought there were only a handful left.... Thumpers.... Ba! (no offence 350x-er's)

Well, I have come to a decision and sent my case halves out... Shipped today.

Many thanks to all who offered advice on this build! Very much appreciated!

Next update to this thread will likely contain pics of the new friends that follow my case halves back home! Hee hee!

I'm going to strip and polish my stator cover and clutch cover. Might have pics of progress on those before my parts come in.... Stay tuned!

    Can't stand the wait!

While I am waiting on my cases and it's new friends to come from ESR, I started to do a little puttering. I have decided to go with black center cases, polished clutch and stator covers, bare ESR cyl, and the blue head. So, I stripped the stator and clutch covers and started to work on them with some Mothers Mag polish and a Powerball..... I hear tell that Mothers Billet Polish really brings a shine on after the regular Mag Polish reaches it's limits. Going to see if I can get my mitts on that Billet Polish.

    Whatya think so far?
