Look on youtube......there are guys who had success hydroplanning but only for about 30-40 feet and then they went over the handle bars!!! OUCH!! Floating trikes....... Yes ...I've done it but only sucessfully laying down with feet dangling off the back in about 3 1/2 ft of water when I was weighting about 100 lbs soaking wet (ALONG TIME AGO).....as soon as you try to sit on one....over she goes!!!!

I am not sure with the 90, but i seem to remember crossing through water deep enough that i was half expecting to drown a big red, i made it across but it felt like the back end of the bike was buoyant (mind you i never stopped or let off the gas to find out) to me it felt like the buoyancy of the tires and the slow movement of the stream had me going sideways down stream.

The point i was wonder about is if they indeed do float; (even if just slightly in the upright position) in water that is just deep enough to drown the bike perhaps this allows you just enough to get to the other side.

I just picked up a 200m has anyone tried/had one of these machines sink?

One of my friends dad said back when the Us90s came out with the rubber wheel/rim, He said there was a guy that took one out on the lake and rode it around on calm days. They live close to the lake, and he said he could see them about once a week crusing around...idk tho

If the pond was frozen he could do this! Otherwise, it is folklore and/or figment of his imagination.

I'm pretty sure that didn't happen. I do know for a fact 100% that the Honda 185/200 trikes will float upright like they should WITHOUT A RIDER because we have floated them acrossed flooded creeks that was as deep as my chest. The 250es wants to float upside down both me and a friend had 250's and when we went to float them acrossed they got away from us and flipped upside down and floated. As for a stock atc with a guy sitting on it just paddlewheeling down a river I dont see it possible. I have never had a 90/110/125 in deep water to see how they float but out of all the trikes I've owned the 185/200 configurations seemed the most bouyant. I guess the only way to settle this questions is to buy up a bunch on pistons and rings and hit the water

I'd be all up in that shlt John!. Anyways, when i was younger, maybe around 11. I stayed on my 125 while i was floating in the lake... Had to get someone to throw me a rope because it was march, and COLD. But, i was also probably 90 pounds.... Also, it didnt stay up to well, but didnt sink to the bottom. The seat was right at the water.

I still say the rumour is B.S. I cant see being able to keep it running and floating.

ATC= All Terrain Cycle. amx575 is right. My parents had the 90s with rubber rims and huge ballon tires. My dad sank like a rock so my mom(100 to 105 lbs) would literally ride one trike at a time accross water with(no current at all) They said never more than 25 or thirty feet. I have my mom lookn for pics. Might have em but itll take some searchn the washshed.

well guys, guess im talkn smack about pictures of the infamous floating 90. This all went down in late 60s or early 70. I was born in 71 and my mom said she didnt own a camera until I was born so no pics. but she did float across water with no current down in imperial beach in the back water slue. I dont know if the salt water had anything to do with it, im just a roofer not a brain scientist or a rocket surgeon. lol wasnt much help but theres my 2 cents. i guess im lookn for proof also.
