Pictures and video do it ZERO justice. While many have climbed it, 99% have not even attempted it.
After 5 prior years of building up the nerve, I finally did it last year on my stock 250R. I've yet to see a Big red or SX make it from the bottom. I've done the top section on my Big Red with ease, but not the entire hill. PS Jensen CHEATS, one time he put the ATC70 in his pocket, walked a few feet, then pulled it back out and hopped back on it. On a side note, I did see Rusty and Garry Crum pull a rock crawler truck up it using just themselves and a tow strap! What a sight to see!

The backbone is a bad ass hill! Ive been there since the 1st trikefest, ive seen a few make it look easy and a few barel roll their atvs down that hill. Ive been up and down it in a rhyno, a rzr and my prairie700.. but i have yet to try it on a trike. My 350x made it up and few time but raffa was on it each time.. lol
when your standing on the hill it looks alot different.. see you guys at haspin i love watchin people climb it!

The videos don't show the tough part. The big rock ledges are in the first 100 feet. If you can make that, you got it.
It's the same small handfull of people that make it up every year. Having been there dozens of times, I wouldn't even consider attempting it from the bottom -- EVER.
I am pretty sure I can make the top part on my 200S, though. Still haven't summoned the testicular fortitude to try.

It's more like a trials coarse than a hill climb. I thought it didn't look that bad on video either, until I got there!!

I'm tempted to say I want to give 'er a go on my SX this year, but I don't want to be held to that. I really like billy-goating technical hills on trikes and was tempted to hit the backbone last year on my Tecate. There was no way I was going to try with the KX jug on my Tecate though. If my KXT jug were on there I would have considered it much more heavily. Yes, it really does make that much of a difference with the KXT jug. That KX jug has ZERO torque. I tend to do well in hill climbs because I'm like 150 lbs too. Hehe

Great videos guys. Im looking forward to it this year. I dont seem bad but I know of a few hills around my way that are pretty steep and video dont do it justice. I plan on giving it hell with every trike I bring this year and my wife wants to be the first woman to try it. I may put some old plastics on it for her and she is gonna do a Raffa Pre-climb prep before hand, lol!!
Just sit back and chillaxx

this will be my 5th year there and I dont think I have ONCE seen the bottom of the hill looking up tot he the top! always standing at the top cheering the riders on their way up thats it. Might have to see if I cant manage to climb it. Im sure that will end well lol

Im not going to try it on my Big Red again after my epic fail last year! That sucked and I was sore for a week! I had to try it though.
