    is it reasonably possible to....?

    hey
    i started thinking of how a 250sx had the difference in gearing in the rear end (if im correct) but the transmission is the same as a big red, now is it possible to swap a big red rear end into a 250sx and pretty much have a nimbler big red?
    also isnt that why the 85 sx's took in water, cause when they designed the rear end different that allowed water to leak in?

    ummm, someone here knows the gear ratios.
    May even be in the sales brochures found on the home page.
    Not sure there would be much noticable difference.
    I have a few of both and I just jump on whatever's closest and get whatever
    jobs done.
    Then again, I never get ANYwhere near top end speeds.

    The 86+ they say, has better sealing against water from the outside.
    Not sure if it gets in thru seals behind the hubs (if there even are any)
    or the flex boot on the driveshaft.

    Might be easier to change tire sizes for different 'gear' ratios.
    Quicker low end or top speed.
    Depends on what you're looking for, I guess. and what you want the trike to do.

    The SX drum turns, add water and dirt to that and you have a muddy filled drum, then it eats at the seal and outer bearing. Then the ring gear seal and bearing.

    The 86 has an inner drum which is protected by a cover and a much smaller seal rather than an 85 whole 7" drum turning on one giant seal.......

    The 85 also had an issue with the swingarm boot. If it has an XX stamped on the swinger, they glued it back up. I always siliconed them, lightly tightened the clamps and finished tightening the next day. The swingarm pivot area also needed attention.

    My boots also tear up the rubber protection boot.

    An ES just gears you down a bit.

    None of these things like water, do you blame them?
