    xr80 clutch problems

My son has a 06 xr 80. It dosent get rode alot and after setting a couple weeks, sometimes the clutch sticks. Its not the cable, everything there moves freely. It seems like the fibers are sticking to the steels. After starting it in gear and riding it around for a min. it frees right up. Could the wrong oil be doing this?

Try running Rotella in it. I have a 1980 XL80, and the clutch never sticks, even after sitting for months. and the clutch also grabs fine, so its not worn out or anything

Those XR80s are bulletproof. Mine leaks oil from the shifter seal (common problem) and the valves chatter worse than someone shaking a coin purse but it just keeps running! I add whatever oil I have around no matter whats in it just to bring the lever back up to where its supposed to be. I never had the clutch stick though. Infact I broke the chain on it and let it sit for 2 or 3 months with gas in it and everything, added oil, fired up first kick no choke. Clutch worked fine and didn't stick.
