    Little bit of an update:

-I have a couple bearings in the transmission to replace. They are sitting on the shelf along with a complete gasket and seal kit.
-Fresh paint should be going on the motor in the next week or so.
-Arrangements have been made to have a new connecting rod kit installed. At that point I can put the bottom end back together.
-Frame and other misc. parts are currently at the powder coater's. I'm hoping to see those back Friday or Monday. I'll post pics when I get it all back.

My focus from there will be to get the swing arm bearings I need and get this back to roller status.

Silver is good ! It will make the KIPS emblem stand out even more IMO.
I tried getting some PJ-1 Yamaha silver last year only to find it has been discontinued from their line up.
I think Tecate-Z bought up all that was available when he heard it was being phased out

Sweet build. Looks like someone tricked it out back in the day!

Those things look so menacing with the green frame.

looks like a nice cylinder you picked up there. silver would be cool. although the black engines are common place for tecates. i always liked the silver look, especially the new kx motors.

I would leave it black and not polish or chrome anything that way it will
continue to look like the race bike that it is.

Last week I was able to get some paint on the bottom end. Today I installed the new bearings and seals, minus the crank bearings and seals. I had one wrong seal in the seal kit I will have to order.

On the crank bearings, it doesn't seem like they should be packed with grease, or at least that much. Am I right?

I'll have the frame and misc parts back from p/c tomorrow if I can get there before they close...

    Mhmmm, shineyyy

This color has a subtle metal flake in it and just POPS in the sunlight. It's hard to catch on camera but holy it rocks!!

On a side note, I remembered I have a set of mojave foot pegs the will fit on the tecate frame, I may need to modify them slighty, but it appears they will fit. Anybody ever done this? They are solid mount but they are also bigger and wider. I'm thinking it would be a good upgrade.
