How did I do on these (2) Kawasaki wheelers for $125

I bought both of these for $125 tonight. The guy just wanted to recoup what he has in the new parts. They were supposed to be (2) klt 110's, but discovered only one is. The frame sticker on the black one says klt 110a as does the red one. Tire sizes are different on the frame sticker though and both frames are noticibly different. I noticed the black one was shaft driven and also the seat says 160 on it. It also has reverse, therefore must be a klt 160. The red 110 has something wrong with the shifter splines and is taken apart. The pic with the part on the white label is broke off on one side (new part is above it). The guy says he did a compression test on the black one and it is really low. He said the only way he got that one started was to dump a bunch of oil in it first? It does have a 2009 trail sticker on it, so it hasn't been sitting too long. He said the red 110 ran before it was taken apart. Both machines look pretty rough. All the tires (although mismatched on the 110) on both machines look really good, even has the little rubber thingys on the 160. Tank on the red 110 has a dent in the top and is pretty rusty but seems sound. The 160's tank is a really ugly plastic one. Front suspension seems decent and straight on both bikes. Axle bearings and steering head bearings seem tight. Seat cover looks original on 160 and is in decent shape. Looks to be recovered on 110 (can feel lumps underneath cover). The 110 seems to have a few weird parts on it such as a yamaha thumb throttle and the foot brake lever doesn't look right. I bought these with the thought that for $125 I could part them out if they seem like too much work to fix. I did get a box of new and old parts with the 110 but it is still missing some kind of shifter spline the guy couldn't order from Kawasaki. Judging by the tank stickers on the 110, is it a 1985 as well? Did I do alright for $125? I think I will be parting these out to fund the restorations of my 85 Big Red and 85 atc 70.

great find. As Aldochina said, that is not the stock tank for the 160. It was steel. I had one of those and it was a kickarss wheeler....one of the best and only made in 1985. It would walk all over any stock 200 honda I had in a drag and rode very smoothe. I plan to get another....someday. Reverse option was great too. There is a lot of money there in parts alone as at least the 160 is hard to find parts for usually.....especially in the carb area. Great deal, can't wait to see ya ridin them.

Great find, specially with the 160. They only made them one year and are very rare.

I would be interested in the whole exhaust, rear fender, and rack off the 110 if you decide to part.

I think that's a yfm 225 or 200 tank on the 160. My personal opinion is to fix them both back to riding condition and then either sell them or keep them. I see too much of the trike there on either of them to justify parting them out. Just my .02

Does anyone know which parts are interchangeable between the 110 and 160? How about between a klt 185 and the 160 or 185 and the 110. Are the gas tanks the same on any of these? Plastics? Thanks in advance.
