Two 350x Grab Bar Styles

What is the timeline for the usage of the two 350x grab bar styles? One version has all four rubber grommets installed on the bar, the other style has none plus a large metal boss at the forward right attach point.

Style 1:


Style 2:



My first '85 350x had Style 2 on it. My second '85 350x had Style 1 on it. There's nothing saying the either of my machines have the original bar on it, so mine are just mentioned for reference.

The OEM parts diagrams on all the on-line parts shops show the same (Style 2) for both years, 85-86,


So, what's the story with the two styles? Was Style 1 the way they launched the 350x, and then changed mid-model year to Style 2? (Sorry to the guy on e-bay who's grab-bar pictures I stole...)

My 86 had the 1st style on it. I've had 3 85 models and they have all had the 2nd style. But I do know that the 1st gen 200x grab bar is the same as 2nd pic you posted. I used my old 85 200x grab bar on my 85 350x while I was waiting for my new PRM Desert grab bar to arrive.

Style one is 86, does it have slots between the mountings holes?

Yea, the bar that I'm calling style 1 has slots between the mounting holes. Is it just that simple, 1 is for 86, and 2 is for 85? Seems simple enough. Whoever had my other X before me must have replaced it. The grab bar isn't in good shape anyway, so I'm gonna look for another of style #2 for my machine. Thanks for the help guys!

Hey Swamp: I looked at some 200x bars on the net, and they definitely look the same... so this will bolt right up to the 350X? It definitely opens up the parts pool if 200x bars will work.

Yup,I took the stock grab bar off of my 85 200x and it bolted up perfectly! I even used the stock tool box.
