If your coming off a big red, I would highly suggest the 350X. The 200X is going to seem to small for you and the 250R's powerplant will be to much of a handful for you to really enjoy.
IMO the 86/ 87 200x can not be beat on the trails. I ride a tremendous amount of rutted wash outs and creek bottoms. The 200x is very well balanced ( Unlike any other 3 wheeler ) and handles off camber situations with ease. My only complaint is no electric start... i guess i may be getting old.
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

between the 200X and 250R i would say by far the 250R. i am NOT saying anything bad about the 200X, believe me i love 200X's especially the '86/'87's which i am assuming u r comparing that gen 200X against a 250R.
the trails we ride r slow and technical here and there, mud rocks, downhill over many rocks and off camber, but then logging roads too where u can open up. my friend has an '85 250R and never has any problems navigating any of it or slowing down. the suspension is much better also for a track setting. u will reach the "end" of the 200X for capability, especially on a track.
but as others r saying i would say for what u r describing and u having a big red, the 350X is the winner for what u want.

I love my 250R - especially in the sand. But, my skills are still a little rusty and the last time I went trail riding I spent most the day on the 200x. I rode the 250R at the end of the day when I was tired. It was an eye opener! It takes a lot of discipline not to let'er rip all the time - especially on trails you can basically ride the X WFO on. Anyway, when I was tired, I felt like the R wanted to take advantage of me
Best thing about the 200x is Ihave 2 of them so when I ride with my son we're evenly matched. With an R and an X paired up on the trails, I was always waiting and he was riding over his head to keep up.
I like more technical trails too, but I also like to go to some pits a ride around to.

Coming off the BR the big differecne is suspension and weight. Power is relative and in ratio to your thumb position. I think the 200X is a GREAT starter sport/trail machine. The 350X is roomy compaired to the 200X, heavier but more motor every where with exceptional top speed. Parts are always a Big factor in any choice of machine as well as availablity in your area. Lugging a 250R in tight trails and log cross-overs comes with seat time and clutch control. The 4strokers LOVE to idle along and enjoy the low powered touch of a downed tree crossing. To me I like the idea of a 350X if it's just for you...meaning unless you have a wife, up coming kids...growing into a 350X might be the solid choice. MX'ing a 350X??? pleanty do it and they run hard...brace the frame?? To me it depends on the rider and if it's a full on resto to be raced more often than trailed. Bracing is like insurance from the big jump...most never have a problem, but there's always one in the bunch. Goodluck with your choice and note any of the 3 will bring a smile to your face when ridden.
Is the 350x an auto or manual clutch?

I would say it depends on what YOU like riding better, What fits YOUR riding style, a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke, world of difference in the way they all ride.
I Love both, some days I feel like a 2 stroke, other days a 4.
Can NEVER have to many TOYS.

I checked out your profile page ATCcountryboy and it says your age is 14 years old so IDK how much experience you have on a sport machine or using a manual clutch so I would not recommend a full blown sport trike just yet. I'd say try out a 1st gen 200x there usually a cheap entry level sport trike. You should be able to find a decent rider for around $500 good luck and dont forget a helmet.
