    Long Brake Line?

i need brakes on my 1986 200x. i know the rear caliper is the same as the front cal on a CR85. is there a long brake line/hose that i could run from a hand lever to the caliper in the rear? i just cant afford to get all the OEM brake parts

You can get braided steel lines made to any length you want at most speed shops and some select auto parts stores, I had one made up a few weeks ago when I put an extended swinger on my one Tecate, but it likely wont be very cheap for one the length your talking about as well as finding a way of keeping it in place without catching it on something. Are you saying that you are missing the rear master cylinder? What about your front brakes? are you saying your only going to run rears or your going to run front/rear of the same master cylinder (not a very good idea in my opinion)?

Good question rodeo i have been wondering the same thing for my 84 200x when i got it it had just back brakes with 2 hoses joined with some kind of wierd joiner which i am pretty sure isn't supposed to be on the bike...so one longer hose would better but i haven't found one yet but i was thinking a auto parts store would probebly be able to hook me up but i haven't got around to that yet

im not exactly sure what i wanna do yet. i dont have the foot lever, master cylinder, hose, or rear caliper. the only thing i had for front brakes was the caliper. no hose, master cylinder, or lever either. i just need front or rear right now. on brake is better than none

does it matter what master cylinder i get for the front? since ive got the front caliper, i just need the hose, lever, and master cylinder. do i HAVE to get a 200x lever/master cylinder or will a cheaper one work?

Pretty much any front master cylinder will (can be made to) work, it depends on the hose ends and which way they mount on the caliper/master, basically if you are getting one made they need to know the angle of the end of the hose (generally straight or 90 degrees) on a side note the +8" steel braided line I had made up for my Tecate was around $25 but obviously rear lines are shorter than fronts so a longer hose will cost you more. if you figure around $1 an inch you should be covered
