    85 350x "reassembly" help?

Hey guys, i figured i would throw this out there, i have recently purchased an 85 350x. The catch is the trike has been totally broken down, frame & parts repainted, swingarm seals and bearings replaced and reassembled and front end reassembled. The motor is all together. My job now is to reassemble everything else the problem i have is all the bolts are in one big bucket. I have been assured they are all there, Now im totally ok with sitting in the garage with a few beers and picking through all the bolts until i find the right one for each part, But as im sure you all agree thats gonna be a pain in the you know what. I do not have another 350x here to refrence either. Is there any way to make this task go faster or easier? Is there anything that shows the length of each bolt? Maybe in the reapair manuals? One other question while im on the subject. Do you guys recommend applying blue lock tight to each bolt while i have the opportunity?

By the way, i purchased this from the original owner (paperwork to prove) So i am confident that all the bolts and parts are oem and exsist.

I have a couple of plastic calipers for measuring stuff I bought at Harbor Freight for like $1 each. I use them to figure out diameter and length of the bolt I'm looking at:
    http://www.harborfreight.com/6-inch-...iper-7914.html

After a few bolts, you get good at figuring out the diameter and length by sight.

Then grab the parts diagrams from Bike Bandit or Cheap Cycle parts or your favorite and print them out and label them with which bolt goes where. I went through this on my 85 350X engine - the bolts on the valve cover and side covers were all mixed up by the previous "mechanic" and it leaked bad.

    It'll take some time...

If you're going through the hassle, it might be worth sending the nuts, bolts, washers etc to get cleaned and re-plated.

Good luck and have fun - sounds like a great project!

Obviously, it's always easier with a manual and/or having another 350X next to you to reference. I would start out by organizing the bolts bin by size and length. Think like a manufacturer... you are wasting money if bolts are sticking through, etc. The ones that always stress me are the side covers of a motor, so you got that to not worry as your motor is complete.

I'm fortunate that I have a ton of fastners, mostly Stainless steel. I put a little grease on them and pop them in.......

In your case, the lengths are all in the online Fiches.

Many bolts are very much identical. Suspension bolts are critical for there application and brake bolts can hit the rotor if too long. The footpeg bolts are 2 different lengths also I believe.

You'll get it, it'll just take time and
