Who Else Hates Black rattle cans?

Since the newbie can't post in the main forums yet I'll drop this here. warning -some ranting.... Like many in the forum I have been in the Buy-n-sell game for a while. I have been hunting down a new ATC purchase and looked at one recently that was attacked with a black of Krylon my offer dropped to 1/2 the asking price immediately! I can't count how many toys I have seen "painted" black, why always black, why over decals and seats and headlights??? Is it too many 13 year olds Huffing? I thought the chrome colors were the huffer's choice? Do they all want to be "MULISHA?" without the talent or sack to jump their PW50's? Can't they just turn up the volume and diddle their IPOD?

How bout those welded gearshifters and kickstarts!

What triggers your instict to want to slap'm silly?

agreed. my shifter stripped on the shifter not the shaft and a guy there said jus weld it and i looked at him and said are u drunk? i toldhim the only way i would ever do that (and it would be jus to get home or something) is if i stripped the splines on the shaft cause u gotta replace the shaft anyways. but if the shaft splines were fine i dnt kno why any one does that. it jus causes more work and money. and the spray paint thing i dnt know why any of them do it cause myopinion i think it makes it look way worse no matter what they looked like before. im new to the site thot i would atleast put in my 2 cents.

You forgot to mention the all grease and dried mud that's been painted over, too. That's my favorite.

So that's all this thread can muster? Am I the only "old guy" that hates to see the cool things I cherish mutilated, clusterfied and and otherwise disrespected? My "normal" buddies think I'm nuts buying every trike I find to "save it"...... help me out here! Somebody help substantiate my last couple-o-lost paychecks...! I am proud of myself I actually walked away from a $400 running 84 200ES. Bad forks, bent axle, busted brake housing, rotted/epoxied gas tank. It was unsaveable but the pleads of the running engine were hard to squelch!

I can't post in the big boy forum either so what do you other newbies have to say? I read the Huntin' atc post...you must see some real gems!

I agree... Spray-bombing and entire trike just covers and ugly machine with an uglier band-aid! Just leave the thing be till you can get your hands on some plastic already!

There is spray can abuse the whole world over....
I understand if you don't have access to a spray booth, and ppg like i do, you can make look good only if you take the time to treat it like you would "real" paint. that means, disassemble, wash, sand, degrease, prime, sand, prime, sand, degrease and then shoot. But why go throught the trouble and not use quality materials?

there is nothing more annoying than careless overspray >_< USE TAPE PLEASE!!!
