I've never seen that happen before, and I agree, it appears to be pressed in. I would remove the head, clean it & the elbow up nicely, and then epoxy the elbow back into place.

Was she hot when this came apart? You should look into why this has happened before you simply "glue" her together and continue ridding her.
Didn't seem to be hot at the time. I was kinda babying it around the track at the time. I have a extra head that I treid twisting and pulling on the fitting and it doesn't budge. This has me clueless. Engine has a fresh top end.

I had this happen to me once, I was out playing on the lake. It was damn cold out that day. My water pump impeller was broken (dont know how that happend) and i think the head got way too hot too fast...i dont really know. Change the head if you have another one
I totally agree, but if you believe this happened due to excessive pressure in the coolant system, there are many other weaker links that would have let go first, before it would blow that spigot out of the head. That's why I believe the spigot was weak to begin with and just needs to be secured.

There is NO way that cooling system pressure would push that out. The rad cap and hoses would blow off before that would ever happen! Change the head.
Ya, I don't understand why it hapened. Everything was working. Just musta been it's time. I'll have to order a head gasket and swap heads.

I know this is an old thread but I was hoping to get more insight on this issue if anyone can assist. Don't mean to highjack but didn't see a need to start a new thread. Not sure if I'm just lucky but I've had this happen twice on two different 250Rs
First was an 85 that was jetted incorrectly it overheated and popped out the elbow. I re jetted it put a new used head on it and its been running great for years.
Second is an 86 I recently purchased. I'm still getting to know the bike but it popped the elbow last weekend in Dumont and I'm not sure why.
My question is are these press fit or sweat fitted in ? Should I look for a replacement head or install the elbow ?
Thanks !
