What pipes do you run on your 85/86 250r's?

I know the FMF Fatty pipe is on like 50% of bikes including my own Its off the bike and headed for a new home though, and im shoping around for a new pipe. I hear alot about the ESR pipes being awesome but that the chrome comes RIGHT off them the first ride. WTF

Anyone a big fan of the PTR (paul Turner pipes) ?

I want something I can rip around on but also do some calm liesurely riding too.

I have found a guy that does custom in-frame drag pipes but thats going to basically kill my grunt low end for climbing hills or anything thats not WOT

What do you guys run other than FMF?

I recently switched from an FMF to a CT pipe and the difference is night and day from top to bottom (pulls harder).. Sounds a lot better too..

Arlin from LED can straight up build pipes. If you didn't know - he's the engineering brains behind LRD - back when it had a spotless reputation.
He's been hand building pipes since way back!
He just completed my 295 motor and built 2 pipes for my 86 Tecate project - both motor (dyno'd out nicely) and the pipes are sweet. Couldn't be happier. He's just a great dude, with a great attititude and all about a happy customer. Give him a call - I obviously highly recommend him.

I am ordering one of them right now. He will build tri-z pipes, he needs atleast 10 orders to even consider it. He knows alot about trikes, the racers of the day. I told him about this site, to come on here and check out what everyone has and how big they are into trikes.

I had an FMF on my 86 250R and switched to a ESR center mount. The ESR was way better. The FMF would fall flat when i shifted into 5th, 6th was dead. The ESR pulled very good to the top.

I switched from a fmf to a PT high rev, and it was night and day difference through out the rpm band. I now have an ESr that I am going to try out.

Not sure what Arlan had on his FB site, but my guess is that it was a donor bike that I gave him in order to mount up the motor and test and to use to fit the pipes he was building. Nothing special on that one, just a nice rider with a Trinity Stage IV 295 in it and a Bills Pipe.
The real deal build is getting closer, at least closer then ever before. All parts are collected, motor and pipe complete, getting forks done now, rear suspension almost completed, stock plastics are painted (white), basically ready for powder coating, misc. part gathering and assembly. Shootin' for Summer completion, we'll see...
Photos will surely be provided when there is something worthy to show.
