not the usual timing question

I have an internal rotor motoplat ignition on a 86 t3. the stock timing is 14or 15 degrees btdc @6800 rpm (I dont have the manual in front of me) I know the advance is in the stock cdi unit and I'm guessing the motoplat doesnt advance since its kinda a universal set up. I set the timing @ 13degrees BTDC but it just does not run right. It will rev while riding and the plug chops look good but it just doesnt have the top end power it should. with no load it stutters @ 3/4 throttle like its on a limiter.I tried to find info on this ignition with no luck. There is a company that repairs them but when I emailed him to get any info all he could tell me was that when then hash marks are lined up it fires.(thanks bud I think I figured that out) does anyone run this type of ignition? does the cdi/coil advance.(one unit) a base timing? any helpful info would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried advancing the unit a couple degrees at a time to see what happens? Have you changed anything else recently? Good luck.

I have and can adjust the timing while its running. It's a new engine and I'm not sure the jetting is on either so at this point I think I will throw a stock ignition in a get the jetting right then deal with the ignition. I was hoping someone had this type of ignition and knew how to set it up (to save time) Its frustrating but I will get it

I see a few websites about these. The one below seems to indicate that internal rotor models have no advance and that some externat rotor models have 10 to 12 degrees of advance built into them. You may have seen it already, but if not here it is. http://www.uk-motoplat.com/testing.htm sounds like they do have some problems with age.
