Another OE hardware re-plating post BLING!

Many others have done this and I finally did too. After some good referrals I got in touch with a awesome plater. He's pretty fast and is real easy to work with! Got plenty of extra stuff for a while. Boy, a real cost savings over Service Honda, and/or winning mint eBay pieces. Wish I'd done this a long time ago...
So fun unboxing this stuff. Enough gloating.

Hillbilly, I might sell some of the excess at some point. I'm actually planning to go back and swap out some of the small parts on past builds. I now can correct a few short comings. I think some of this might do well on ebay, but will most likely offer it here first. I'll probably send another batch off with tare down of two more machines here. I also plan to send him some rear axles to do now that this went so well.

    Prices?Is it by the pound?
Jay, my shipment was a total of 110 pounds in three separate boxes. I used the 12"X12"x6" flat rate Priority boxes and taped them to the hilt. I insured each of the 3 boxes for $500 each (to discourage damage). They were way too heavy for a "smiling" post man, so I wanted to cover my tail. I did get dirty looks when they saw the weight. Somebody might want to discourage this practice with intentional damage, just saying... Each box cost me $22 insured ($132 shipped & insured both ways). They returned in the very same boxes with no issues. Lucky?? Maybe....
As far as the plating costs... Better contact Tracy on pricing, but I feel it was way reasonable. I've got less than $500 invested with shipping included for all this stuff. Probably over $3K ordered from Service Honda and/or found in NOS condition on ebay. Lot of this stuff is discontinued. Tracy said about $100/ plus shipping for one machines worth of bolts, fasteners, brackets, and such. Obviously I sent about 6 bikes worth. Anything over 2ft in length would be at a higher cost. Have to see what a rear axle will cost?? Special handling or a different set up I'm guessing is the reason ...

    Ross,
Thanks bud. It's so fun! I felt like I was one of the Goonies kids uncovering "one eyed" Willie's treasure. GOLD!
Honestly, I didn't get a hold of the guy you used/referred (no real reason). This Tracy was so friendly and willing to please, I just pulled the trigger. Thanks for the help though, your stuff was really inspirational. Going to use your NOS plastic soon too, on a '86 OE build. Thanks again!

Just the gold though, right? Is the silver finish zinc?

What about prep before shipment? Did you have to clean them first, or did you just send the hardware in as-removed condition?
