    the kawasaki tecate challenge

First of all, thanks to all the members on this site that have contacted me... you guys rock ! , Super nice and very helpful to the new members and I appreciatte it ... Does anyone know where I can get a front tire for my 1986 kawasaki tecate ? The stock size is 23x9x11 , I tried ordering from a few places to no avail ... Any help or suggested performance replacements that work with the stock rim would be thankful ... Also thanks on the info given earlier, hopefully will be able to score some shrouds too ... One last question ... My bike is more horsepower goaled than totally stock and I am interested in steel braided brake lines that would work with the stock system ? Has anybody done this ? As soon as I finish I cant wait to get some picks up for you guys!
Thanks again for any help ... Looking forward to the next trikefest !

If you want plain braided steel brake lines you can just go to your local speed shop, and tell them how long you need it and what ends you need (I had some rear ones made up) but they wont add any horsepower...

Stock sized tires are few and far between, alot of guys run Kenda Front Max's

What 10 inch wheel thing are you talking about bro ? Are you suggesting I switch rims ? I need to know what other sizes fit on the stock rim and where I can find em ? Like an actual website ... thanks

    Not much choice

For the stock rims, not much choice.
I personally like the fat front Tecates and had to buy 2 of these to get one.
Used 1 on the 2011 raffle trike and other is going on my black T-3 build.
Darned if i recall what they are but quad for sure and sold in pair.
I also have a Xowner custom 10 inch rim for the "in case I need".

Stock rear on an 84/85 is 18" an 86/87 has a 2" longer swinger so if you got one made 20"/21" you should be good (I have a 24" on an 84 with a plus six swinger)
I measured what I believe is a stock 86 line (and it looked to be about 56") but I'm not sure on that (my 86 front end is currently disassembled) so measuring with a piece of hose would be your best bet

If I remember right I think I paid like $27/$28 for the 24" a few months ago

that front tire is a Kenda K284 front max A/T. I have one on one of my tecates and it works well. no need to buy two and its an inexspenive tire also. A word to the wise if you get one is let a shop put it on . being an inch narrower and the 2nd gen tecate front wheels sucking to begin with it is well worth the 5 bucks to have a shop do it. the ten inch wheel is also a great option,I have one of them also and plan to get another. The fit is great and as far as mounting a tire,I think you could use a pair of chop sticks and a bicycle pump. Not exactly but almost. not to mention all the tire options that open up with it.
