whats a tri z like with yamaha rench report mods ??

i was wondering if any one that has done the yamaha rench report engine mods can tell me how much more power it gave them and if it was worth it. ill be doing the rench report cylinder mods and carb mod also with they exception of im putting a dg pipe and silencer on mine. and im plaining the head a full 20 thousanths and ill be raising the cylinder port a full 2mm. im not doing thow work my self tho ill be sending the jug off to get this all done. what should i expect out of it when i get it back.

I would like to know the same thing but I'm more interested in the phase one mods instead of the full blown on/off powerband.

I have never ridden one but from what I understand you do lose some low end power.

I have never ridden a 250 which has alot of power all over the rpm range. My honest belief is that you have to make a compromise.

If you ride a 500 then you can expect power everywhere (like my Quadzilla) but don't expect it from a 250.

I would rather have my low end and mid range then all top and mid with no bottom.

ANOTHER THING I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IS SOMEONE FIND AN OLD BIG BORE KIT FOR THE TRI Z OR YZ. THERE USED TO BE A 360 KIT FOR THE YZ AND A 317 KIT FOR THE TRI Z.

FIND ONE OF THOSE AND YOU WON'T LOSE POWER ANYWHERE. YOU WILL JUST GAIN IT EVERYWHERE.

yeah that would be nice to have a big bore kit out there to buy with replacement pistons for the kit also. there are a couple mildly modded 250r 3 wheelers and 4 wheelers in my area but nuthing specail that id like to be able to spank.

Neither do I. It is my belief if you level the playing field(ad the second cylinder boost port(Like an R or a T3), put a clamp on filter on(the stock is a choker), add a 34mm carb(like an R or a T3)) and you will have a very strong competitor for an R or a T3.

I dont have any experience with Tri-Z's, but have built up many 2-stroke engines. Raising the exhaust port is what kills low end power. If you raise it 1-2mm that will give more top end, with a minimal torque loss. If you raise the exhaust 3-4mm it will usually kill low end, but the top end will be awesome. Cutting the cyl. head will increase torque and mid range power. A larger carb and or better filter will also give all around power gains. So basically, stay conservative on the ex. port timing (raise 1mm) to keep good low end, but perform the other mods for overall power. Just my experience.

When in doubt: STAND ON IT!!!!
