Works has been around since the 3wheeler was frist racing. They have always put out a good shocks. I have yet to own one but haven't heard or experanced one bad thing with performance. I believe they price themselves in the lower side of the market for the budget minded resto/racer. It doesn't mean they don't have a top of the line model available upon request. Sure PEP,Axis,Elka can make you a shock too but the price will be slightly higher. Works can make a better than stock model...does it have all the same do-dads as the other Co.'s??? depends on what you need. Custom rear shocks are like buying the most important peice to the puzzle. All the motor in the world is limited by the rideablity of the machine. Depending on the ride level and harshness you plan on putting on it can sometime sway the build. Rebound, Spring rate, Valve rate, Shaft size...ect So each Company is different and use all their own knowledge to create what they feel works for the costomer. I think you'll be pleased with a Works model...best thing is give the Co. of choice a call and see how they make you feel. Ask questions and get there opinion on the model that suites you best.
Thanks a lot. I'll give them a hollar.
I was also checking out this http://www.ebay.com/itm/85-86-Honda-...62651969121768
Claims to be NOS that was built without the bump stop. They put a bump stop on by cutting it, sliding it on, and taping it...
I noticed this ad last summer. Have any of you guys tried out one of these shocks? If so, any feedback you can give?
Thanks
i just got mine the other day. the NOS one with a bump stop put in. great looking shock. no ride time yet but everything looks great

if u have questions, call him, i talked to him for about an hour one day and he is a great guy and has a lot of great deals, especially on engine rebuilds

I don't like the "slit the bump stop deal" I'd rather have him put a new seal head and bump stop on there.
I find that EVERY NOS shock I buy blows the seal in a matter of rides......

Ah, thanks for the insight DC. Maybe I'll bite the bullet and buy the Works shock. Thanks everyone.
the bump stops rotted off they were not made from the factory without one. You can not put a new one on by slitting it when you bottom out its going to get spit out and you are going to be in alot of pain.
That's what I was thinking. That it would fall off the first time I compressed it. I'm going to order the works shock. Thanks
Just ordered the works quadstar shock with the reservoir and some progressive springs for the front. Out about 1K , man it stings!! Figure suspension and helmet are the last places to get cheap. I'll give a ride report when I get it all setup. It will be 4-5 weeks on the shock (1 week for paypal e-check to clear, 2-3 weeks to build shock).
Hey, that will be one awesome upgrade!!
Keep us informed on how it performs![]()

You'll be happy with this mod without question. Yep the $ seems steep just wait...you'll soon find out why it's one of the best mods you can buy. Report back with a ride report, and testify my brother for you have been saved!
lol. Yeah, I cant wait, the echeck from paypal cleared today. So should be about 2-3 weeks now. Progressive springs should be here soon too. I'll have a ride report soon!
Forks are done
If anyone wants some decent OEM springs shoot me a PM.
