    84 tecate no spark

I lost spark on my 84 other day after putting on a Ricky flywheel, it appears to be the black ignition coil but I'm doubtful because I have two and both are not making spark....I forgot how I had my ground wires on, I'm thinking it's that or the kill switch acting up.. Could some one tell me how there suppose to go on there or with a pic would be nice! I had both on under between the coil and frame with no problems before this. Could the ignition coil be grounding out some how too? Those are my only ideas right now.

I have heard of a couple new ricky stators taking a crap within the first few hours. Do you have juice coming from the stator wires? Check there first, and follow your way up from there. An easy way to rule out the kill switch is to unhook it completely, then there should be spark if that was the issue. I have seen a coil that grounded out, there was actually a crack on the coil, hard to see, but not in a dark garage. The spark was jumping from the coil to the frame, but that machine still ran, just not good at all. Just some thoughts. --- Jon

ya its getting juice, dies after the green and white wire connecting to the coil from the cdi. Do I Just disconnect the negative lead (black and white) from the cdi going to the killswitch to disable the killswitch?

What color are the wires coming off the killswitch? Pull the tank off, and disconnect the 2 connectors.

One black and white another black and yellow coming from the killswitch, the black and white goes to CDI and the Black and yellow just has a ground circle, this ones been cut it looks like. When I read the manual it says the black and yellow wire was going to the tail and headlight which were removed when I got my hands on it :/.

Try touching that other wire to the frame, and look for spark when you give it a kick.

still not getting a spark.. I disconnected the kill switch and a got a new ignition coil.. I'm getting spark from the green & white wire from the cdi but it dies at the igition coil. There is a ground wire from the cdi with the green & white wire that's solid black with a loop on the end of it. Ive tried grounding it in different spots but still nothing. Not sure why its doing this..It was simple last time I messed with it not sure what I'm doing wrong. If any one has any ideas I would apreaciate the help, going to take it to a friends tomorrow or the next to find out whats up.

Took it to my guy he didn't understand either. Told me CDI was bad which I disagree with because I'm getting spark according to my test light from the green & white wire, coming from the CDI. Here's some pictures maybe some one here will know whats up or see something wrong. PS:I removed the kill switch and lighting wires, leaving just the stator wires and CDI.Click image for larger version.

What kind of coil / spark plug boot and wire are those? Are they correct to work on this machine? Never seen any like that before.

no i did not, I've been using a test light and the wire from the flywheel/stator shows up bright green and red. I just bought the stator new, and the pos started up as I said on a earlier post when I had the ground wires rigged up differently. I'll have to go buy one tomorrow and test it.. I know its not the CDI, not sure why he said that.

I bought it off ebayhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Kawasaki-KXT...87c84c&vxp=mtr, but I'm starting to think its not the ignition coil either because I have 2 of the original ones and now this junky thing and none have helped. I'm stumped, never had a problem like this before, sad thing is the pos was running good before all this happened.. If any one has any ideas I would greatly appreciate the help, as I'm trying to find some one who might know these things at the moment.

Gage, I will take some pictures of wiring loom tomorrow night and also check the 3 or 4 loose electronics I have to see if fly wheel coils (exciter coils) are good.
If in doubt I can put them on a beater runner 84 T-3 I have to test out.
If good and it works (as in makes your T-3 run again) for you we will work something out price wise.
BUT, have you pulled that Ricky fly wheel off and checked to see if something did not get picked up on the magnets ,,, like say the fly wheel key ~ please check.
To the very best of my knowledge no matter if key way is in or not,,, so long as fly wheel is turning it WILL make spark (just at the wrong time) but if something like a key way or some other piece of crap go in there it may be direct shorting it all out.
You check that, I will check exciter coils.

P.S. - where the 3 wires from exciter coils plug into the wiring loom, make sure they individually are pushed together. I have had one of those wires work loose from the black encapsulation thingy around the end,,,
